SECTION III: GUILD FOUNDING PRINCIPLE

Sol Invictus is a hardcore PVP/PVE guild without a hardcore guild attitude. Leadership expects members to come prepared to play, to play hard and to always exhibit a winning attitude when we’re on the battlefield or conquering a PVE instance. However, guild events are not mandatory: leadership will never require members to participate in guild events. Leadership wants members to participate because they want to. Everyone has nights they just want to log in and relax. World of Warcraft, first and foremost, is a game and games are meant to be fun. Leadership will never require members to attend a work-like event schedule regardless of circumstance. Sol Invictus is here to roll Horde and rip through content, not burn people out.

SECTION IV: CODES OF CONDUCT

Sol Invictus started as a flame and exploded into a wild fire almost instantaneously. The first 15 members were not recruited; they contacted leadership to join based on the principles the guild was founded on, strong bonds of friendship and the character of the guild’s original members. It is important to always remember that when you wear the Sol Invictus tag, you are not only representing yourself, you’re representing the dozens of other players that share your tag. The following are general codes of conduct that leadership expects every member to exhibit:

1. Respect yourself: don’t let anger or frustration get the best of you. Sol Invictus will get rolled in PVP sometimes. Sometimes PVE won’t go our way and people will be frustrated. Always remember that attitudes are contagious: one bad attitude can turn a bad night into a terrible one. World of Warcraft is a game. While we’d all like everything to go flawlessly, World of Warcraft, like real life, can sometimes present unexpected challenges. The strength of a guild is not determined by how it handles those challenges when it succeeds; the strength of a guild is determined by how it handles those challenges when it fails.

2. Respect your guildies and other players: Even though World of Warcraft is a game, there are real people behind the pixels you see on your computer screen. Like you, they log on to play and have fun. Disrespecting your fellow Sol Invictus members, recruits, guests and other players will not be tolerated. Disrespect includes but is not limited to: foul language that makes someone uncomfortable, ridicule in public text and/or voice channels, sexual harassment, communicating threats, racial slurs or racist jokes, spamming to annoy and more.

3. Don’t be greedy: Everyone loves getting a new piece of loot, but loot does not make a Sol Invictus member. Every piece of loot earned, both in PVP and PVE, is a team effort and should be treated as such. Every time a Sol Invictus member receives a piece of loot the guild becomes that much stronger. You won’t always get every piece of loot you want. Certain players will not be given loot priority over other players regardless of guild rank, seniority, need or other factor. Loot is dispersed fairly based on your earned DKP points. Guilt tripping other Sol Invictus members into not bidding on a piece of loot you want will not be tolerated, and there will be no class distinction when determining who is allowed to bid for loot. If you can equip the loot and it’s an upgrade, you have a right to bid on it.

4. Don’t cheat: A Sol Invictus member is one who is capable of excelling without breaking the rules or courtesies of World of Warcraft. Cheating will not be tolerated. Cheating includes, but is not limited to: AFKing in Alterac Valley, ninja looting in a Sol Invictus group/raid or a pickup group/raid, buying and selling gold, using bots, using add-ons that are against World of Warcraft’s ULA and exploiting in PVP or PVE. If you’re unsure if something you’re about to do is considered cheating or not it probably is. Don’t do it.

5. Don’t be a troll: Running organized PVP and being successful in PVE will often cause other players to troll message boards and disparage Sol Invictus and/or its members. When such events occur, do not respond to the troll. Trolling is more often than not based on a misinterpretation of the facts or irrationality. Let the troll poster look silly, not Sol Invictus for fueling his or her fire. Trolling is usually the result of jealousy or getting shown up in some facet of the game. Sol Invictus members let their actions speak louder than their words.

SECTION V: RULES AND DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS

In order to assure an enjoyable playing environment for all Sol Invictus members and to continue to promote the guild’s good name, there are a few disciplinary measures that will be taken if any of the above codes of conduct are broken for any reason:

1. Respect: Any Sol Invictus member displaying disrespect towards another member or guest on a raid or in a PVP group will be given a warning by the Raid Leader or Guild Master. If the disrespect continues on the same raid, the said member will be removed from the raid or PVP group and receive a -100 DKP penalty. If any Sol Invictus member is removed from a raid or PVP group due to disrespect three times, the Sol Invictus leadership will hold a vote in which majority rule will decide whether or not to remove said member from the guild. If the member is retained, they will be placed on a one-month probation in which they will not be able to bid on any loot.

2. Greed: Sol Invictus fights as a team and loots as a team. Greed is not an option. Any member caught trying to fix DKP bids, guilt tripping other members into not bidding or getting upset over not getting a piece of loot will be given a warning. A second offense will result in a -100 DKP penalty. A third offense will result in the Sol Invictus leadership holding a vote in which majority rule will decide whether or not to remove said member from the guild. If the member is retained, they will be placed on a one-month probation in which they will not be able to bid on any loot.

3. Cheating: Any member caught cheating as defined above or defined by the leadership will be given a warning. On a second cheating offense, the said member will receive a -100 DKP penalty. A third offense will result in the Sol Invictus leadership holding a vote in which majority rule will decide whether or not to remove said member from the guild. If the member is retained, they will be placed on a one-month probation in which they will not be able to bid on any loot. Note: the penalty for ninja looting is different from other forms of cheating and is discussed below.

4. Ninja Looting: Ninja looting on a Sol Invictus event or in a pickup group is not tolerated. Any member caught ninja looting will be placed before the leadership and voted on. Majority rule will decide whether or not the member will be removed from the guild. If the member is retained, he or she will not be allowed to raid with Sol Invictus for one month and all current earned DKP points will be erased.

5. Guild Removing Yourself: Everyone gets angry and frustrated, including the Sol Invictus leadership. However, removing yourself from the guild to vent anger or to make a statement will not be tolerated. If you remove yourself from Sol Invictus out of anger and then seek reentrance, you’ll have to be voted back in by officers of the guild using the same procedure and standards set forth for new recruits (see recruiting procedure). If you are invited back into the guild, your previous DKP will be wiped. If you remove yourself from the guild a second time, you will not be welcomed back into Sol Invictus.

6. Trolling: Don’t do it. Sol Invictus members let our actions speak louder than our words. Any member caught trolling will first receive a verbal warning. Every offense after the verbal warning will result in a -25 DKP penalty per occurrence. If the trolling becomes out of hand, Sol Invictus leadership has the right to hold a vote in which the majority will determine whether or not the member will be allowed to remain in Sol Invictus. If the member is retained, any trolling after the leadership vote will result in automatic guild removal.

Amendment 5.A: 7. Attitude: It is the mission of Sol Invictus leadership to maintain a guild that holds family values, friendship and loyalty to the highest regard. Bad attitudes will not be tolerated. Bad attitudes are like cancer. They can be a contagious infestation that ruins other members' online time, and they can have an extremely detrimental affect on raid progression. The Guild Master or any officer may present evidence of a member's poor attitude to the officer council at any time for a hearing. The Guild Master only may present evidence of an officer's poor attitude to the officer council at any time for a hearing. Valid evidence includes screenshots, Team Speak or Vent conversation that was witnessed, message board chatter and more. If the officer council deems the issue serious enough, the member or officer may be voted out of the guild by a majority-rules decision.

SECTION VI: RAID (PvE or PvP) RULES

The rules that govern Sol Invictus PVP premade groups are simple:

1. Come prepared: Always have all the items you need to maximize your contribution to the team, including reagents, potions, bandages, etc.

2. Be on Vent: The key to being successful in any raid group is good communication. Having even one player that’s “out of the loop” because they’re not hearing direction from the raid leader can be extremely detrimental to the success of the team.

3. Keep a winning attitude: Sol Invictus will win most PvP and all PvE encounters. However, there will be many times when an encounter won’t go our way. In such cases, bad attitudes will not be tolerated. Learn from the encounter and use what you learned to get better. Don’t dwell on the loss, point fingers or AFK log off. The raid leader has the right to remove any Sol Invictus member from any encounter that he or she feels is displaying a poor attitude.

4. Be on time: Being on time increases your chances of getting a spot in the raid group. Please be online and ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the start of any scheduled event. Events will be canceled without hesitation if there are not enough participants to form a viable raid group within 30 minutes of the posted start time. Many times we as a group will just find other ways to entertain ourselves.

5. Have all necessary add-ons: Having the right add-ons is essential to success in both PvE and PvP. All members should have at least the most current versions of a threat meter and Deadly Boss Mods/Big Wigs. Specific add-ons for certain raid instances or encounters may also be required.

SECTION VII: LOOT SYSTEM

Looting on PVE raid events will be determined by a DKP bid system.

How DKP is earned: DKP is earned by attending raids or, if the raid is full, being outside the active raid instance ready to replace a member. If you are a substitute, playing an alt while you wait to enter the raid is acceptable as long as your alt is in the guild for easy access and your main character is parked outside the instance.

How many DKP points are earned: You will receive 5 DKP points for every hour you raid an encounter that Sol Invictus has already beaten. You will receive 10 DKP points per hour for any encounter that Sol Invictus has not yet beaten.

How DKP is spent: DKP is spent using a bidding system, so you have the right to choose how many points you want to spend on a particular item. All items start off costing a minimum of 5 DKP. Bidding for the item then commences in raid chat with all players interested in the item placing bids until a top bidder is determined. The top bidder then wins the item and the DKP points he or she selected to pay are deducted from his or her total. For example:

The Sword of 1,000 Truths drops.

Warrior1, Warrior2 and Paladin1 all want the sword.

Warrior1 has 75 DKP, Warrior2 has 165 DKP and Paladin1 has 35 DKP.

/raid Raid Leader: The Sword of 1,000 Truths. Minimum bid 5 DKP. Go.
/raid Warrior1: 5
/raid Warrior2: 10
/raid Warrior1: 15
/raid Warrior2: 20
/raid Paladin1: 35
/raid Warrior1: 36
/raid Warrior2: 40
/raid Warrior1: 45

Paladin1 is out of DKP and Warrior2 decides he doesn’t want to pay anymore for this item.

/raid Raid Leader: Warrior1 45 going once
/raid Raid Leader: Twice
/raid Raid Leader: Sold to Warrior1 for 45 DKP!

Amendment VIII.A: When tradeskill patterns or recipes drop, present members who have reached the relative skill level for said pattern or recipe may roll /random 100 to win loot rights.

Amendment VIII.B: DKP Decay and Iron Man Bonuses
If a member of SI signs up for and attends a raid for its full duration, and is on time as well, they will earn a 5dkp bonus for the evening.

Amendment VIII.C: Offset Gear
If no member of the current raid group is interested in a piece of gear for their main set, a member may bid “off” in raid chat. At the end of the bidding the piece of gear will be decided between those interested parties by a roll /random 100.

At the end of the raiding week before the Tuesday reset the entire guild will endure a dkp decay of 15 points in order to combat inflation and discourage dkp hoarding from inactive raiders.

SECTION VII: RECRUITING PROCEDURE

Current class needs will be located under the recruitment section of the Sol Invictus website. In order to become an official Sol Invictus applicant, interested level-80 players must fill out an application form via the website.

Once the player has submitted their application, the leadership has then taken time to review their application, and many times the applicant has conversed with our members via the forum, we will either let you know the application has been denied or setup an interview with you. If the interviewer determines that the player is a good fit for Sol Invictus, the player will be extended a trial membership to Sol Invictus and tagged.

Trial membership lasts 30 days. During the applicant’s 30-day trial, they are allowed to earn DKP. They are extended the same right to raid and participate in PVP events as full members are so that Sol Invictus members have the chance to get to know them. The trial membership may be extended out as long as the officer council feels is needed to ensure a proper fit.

Amendment IX.A: If the applicant must take extensive time off World of Warcraft during his or her 30-day trial, trial membership is frozen and he or she must notify the Guild Recruiter to be granted a time extension upon returning to the game.

An applicant may be removed from the guild by a majority-rules vote by the Sol Invictus leadership if he or she breaks any of the codes of conduct during his or her 30-day trial period. If the applicant makes it through the 30-day trial period successfully, he or she will be voted upon by Sol Invictus officers to determine whether or not he or she will become a full member or removed from the application process. Promotion to full-member status requires a majority of votes from active Sol Invictus officers to be "yes." Any officer voting “no” must accompany his or her vote with a reason. This is done in private.
